Proposed Colorado Law Could Speed Up Fire, Flood Warnings
Faster warnings could save hundreds of millions in damage and save lives.
The Denver Post reports Colorado state Rep. Tracy Kraft-Tharp, D-Arvada, is drumming up support for a $10 million effort to better forecast wildfires and floods, which could save hundreds times more in property losses from any one single event by giving evacuees, firefighters and other early responders a big head start. Opponents say the price tag is too high and the benefits are questionable.
